Social Programme

The Social Programme of EFMC-ISMC 2018 will include the following events:

Welcome Reception on Sunday, September 2
Venue: Gospodarsko razstavišce - Exhibition and Convention Centre
Participation in the welcome reception is free of charge, but subject to prior registration (during your on-line registration).
Concert on Tuesday, September 4
Venue: Cankarjev dom - Linhart Hall
Participation in the Concert is free of charge, but subject to prior registration (during your on-line registration).

The vocal group Perpetuum Jazzile is comprised of both female and male singers, who perform songs without any instrumental accompaniment and therefore use various techniques, including vocal percussion, to cover all the elements in the music. Conducted by the renowned Swedish singer, arranger, and conductor, Peder Karlsson, the group mostly performs well-known pop songs, Slovene folk music, and gospel songs, which are re-arranged into different musical genres, such as jazz, bossa nova, funk and swing.

Excursions on Wednesday, September 5
Optional excursions will take place during the afternoon of September 5 (as from 15:30). Excursions are subject to prior registration and payment (during your on-line registration). Further information on the proposed excursions is available below. All excursions will take place at the same time, so only 1 excursion per person can be booked.
Symposium Banquet on Wednesday, September 5
Venue: Cankarjev dom - Grand Reception Hall
One of the finest venues of Cankarjev dom and, owing to its soaring ceilings, one of the most spacious and brightest halls in Slovenia, the Grand Reception Hall was devised by the architect Edo Ravnikar. Clad in white marble and adorned by splendid metal chandeliers, the photogenic architectural masterpiece is the perfect place for the Symposium Banquet.

The participation to the Banquet is optional, and requires prior registration as well as a contribution of 60,00€ per participant. Please register for the banquet during your on-line registration. Persons willing to attend the Banquet, but who are not registered for the symposium either as scientific delegate or as accompanying person, will be charged a fee of 150,00€.

Excursions

Excursions require a minimum number of participants to register. If the required minimum is not met, the excursion will be cancelled and we will refund the excursion amount. All the excursions will be on Wednesday 5th September starting at 15:30.

EXCURSION 1: Culinary tour

Explore the flavours of Ljubljana. Join a guided city tour including tasting sessions of traditional Ljubljana dishes and get to know the city's culinary offerings and their historical tradition.

Duration: 3 hours

EXCURSION 2: Bicycle Plecnik tour (FULLY BOOKED)

If you love architecture and if you love biking, then continue reading. I've got a fabulous idea on how to spend time in Ljubljana actively, see architectural gems and learn something on the way. It’s called the Plecnik bike tour, which will take you all over Ljubljana, where you’ll meet works from the city’s favourite architect.

Duration: 3 hours

EXCURSION 3: Wine experience (FULLY BOOKED)

Would you like to know why Slovenia is one of the best undiscovered wine lands in the world? Treat yourself to a tasting of nine wines originating from three wine-growing regions and thoroughly discover the richness of Slovenian viticulture.

EXCURSION 4: Regular city tour: Historical city centre and Ljubljana Castle

Join this regular Ljubljana city tour available daily, take a walk around the historical city centre, and explore all of its major attractions. Continue with a visit to Ljubljana Castle and treat yourself to beautiful views of the city from the castle's ramparts.

EXCURSION 5: Ljubljana Castle Time Machine: From the Roman City of Emona to the 20th Century + Town Hall Tour

Join a time travelling tour through six groundbreaking periods in the history of Ljubljana Castle in the company of costumed castle guides impersonating different historical personalities. The tour of Ljubljana's Town Hall will take you through a number of rooms which have so far not been open for public viewing. It offers an insight into the rich history of a building which stands as one of Ljubljana's most striking Baroque monuments.
